HE Interior Minister praises role of community partnership
His Excellency Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has delivered the following speech to mark the Community Partnership Day celebrated on March 18:
March 18 is the 11th anniversary of the Community Partnership Day that represents strong ties between policemen and the public in consequence of the national importance of cooperation to maintain security and stability and enforce the law.
After more than a decade of introducing the day, we can say that the community partnership concept is being further reinforced and represents a living example of nationalism owing to the sentiments of loyalty for the nation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Bahrain has been a pioneer in this field, striving to develop community security services and adopting new ideas in relation to police in accordance with the requirements of society since the police management is keen to meet its future needs.
Relations between policemen and all sections of society have been reinforced, as the presence of security personnel brings a sense of comfort and shows the spirit of cooperation with citizens to fulfil their requirements. This also reinforces the respect for law and order.
The community partnership concept has been reinforced to become a real practice in line with the principle that security is the key for development and the right and responsibility of all. This partnership has been adopted as a positive approach, including showing cooperation with policemen for law enforcement and responding to instructions that could protect the nation and facilitate services, besides adopting a common national stance to reject terrorism which targets innocent people and policemen, and supporting all security steps that might help maintain national security and stability. Policemen have been praised and appreciated in majalis, newspapers and social media.
On this national occasion, I thank and appreciate all those who have supported and helped implement this partnership including government organisations and NGOs, as well as the efforts of the governors, as part of the Interior Ministry, to promote community partnership and positive interaction with the residents to learn about their needs, in terms of security or development programmes. The role of policemen in strengthening the partnership through discipline in all situations in accordance with the law is also highly appreciated.
The appreciation is also extended to the media for their efforts to support community partnership.
May God protect Bahrain and its security under the leadership of HM the King.
