His Excellency Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited on Sunday morning the General Directorate of Civil Defence. He was received by Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan and General Director of Civil Defence.

At the beginning of the visit, HE Interior Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister for the sincere efforts of civil defence teams in extinguishing the oil pipeline fire near Buri village. He expressed thanks and appreciation to the personnel for their sincerity and professionalism in dealing with this serious terrorist crime.

HE Interior Minister hailed the distinguished performance that reflects the sense of national responsibility of civil defence personnel. He valued their approach of following advanced plans and programme in dealing with crisis and disasters as part of ongoing efforts to protect lives and property and carrying duties that include sacrifices to rescue others.

He asserted that the development of civil defence would continue to meet urban expansion in the Kingdom of Bahrain and be ready to deal with future incidents. He stressed the importance of building up capabilities through training. He added the necessity of ongoing supervision of all projects and follow up on safety violations. HE Interior Minister said that security protection operations continue round the clock. “The terrorist crimes witnessed in Bahrain and caused deaths make us more determined to hold those behind them accountable to protect our country and follow the footsteps of our grandfathers,” he said.

The General Director of Civil Defence asserted that previous and current sacrifices for the security and safety of the nation are much less than what Bahrain and its leadership and people deserve.  He highlighted that the presence of HE Interior Minister at the fire site and his directives were a great motive to continue in performing duties and dealing with the implications of this terrorist crime.
