Bahrain traffic fatalities lowest in GCC

The efforts to reduce deadly accidents in Bahrain have paid off. The rate of traffic-related deaths stood at 3.6 per 100,000 last year – the lowest among the GCC states and other Arab countries.
The figures were released as the Traffic Week was launched today under the patronage of Interior Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa.
He honoured model drivers at the event, held at the Public Security Officers Club in the presence of senior officers. He paid tribute to traffic policemen for their crucial role in promoting road safety and implementing awareness campaigns in partnership with civil institutions. 
He also commended the role of Arab traffic affairs expert Abdul-Aziz Bouhajji, and praised his contribution in promoting the traffic and road safety.

Director-General of Traffic Brigadier Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa in his address stressed the efforts to achieve the best results, promote road safety and reduce accidents.

Traffic Culture Director Lt-Colonel Osama Bahar stressed success in reducing traffic accidents and violations which had earned the directorate the Gulf Forum 2017 prize for best government practices.
