Special traffic plan for Ramadan

MOI:

The General Directorate of Traffic has come up with a traffic plan for Ramadan that includes increasing Traffic personnel’s deployment on highways, commercial roads, shopping malls and mosques.

The Traffic presence would focus on regulating the flow of vehicles during fast-breaking time and wrong parking at mosques during Tarawih prayers. There will be coordination with the Directorate of King Fahad Causeway Police to avoid traffic jams in the evening, especially during the fast-breaking period, and to ensure traffic safety at the causeway.

The department coordinates with the Roads Directorate at the Ministry of Works to open the Janabiya flyover junction to facilitate traffic from the causeway. The Director-General of Traffic said the service-related section would remain open from 8am to 3pm, except the Inspection and Accident Department that would function until 5pm and the Driving Test School that would be open until 7pm.

The peak period for trucks would be from 7:30am to 8:30am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

The Director-General urged roadusers to follow traffic rules and said that statistical analysis showed the traffic accidents during Ramadan mainly occurred because of lack of attention, overspeeding during the fast-breaking period and wrong overtaking.
