HH Southern Governor received by Japan’s Prince Akishino

Prince Akishino, son of the Japanese Emperor, received Southern Governor His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who is on a visit to Japan, today.

Prince Akishino praised the effective role played by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to strengthen the Bahrain-Japan relations and wished Bahrain further progress and prosperity.

Prince Akishino also thanked HH the Southern Governor for his key efforts to improve relations at all levels. In this context, he referred to the ‘Japanese Village’ event, organised by the Southern Governorate recently in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Bahrain, and its outstanding success in terms of attendance and distinguished Japanese cultural and folklore programmes and shows. He also praised HH the Governor’s interest in Japan’s culture and history.

HH the Southern Governor said that thanks to the directives of HM King Hamad, support of HRH the Premier and backing of HRH the Crown Prince, Bahrain had made a number of local and international achievements in various fields. He said his governorate was among the important ones in the kingdom given its strategic, historical and social importance, adding that it had hosted numerous international events, initiatives and activities which had made it a favourable tourist destination.

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Al Dossari and Japan’s Ambassador to Bahrain Hideki Ito also attended the meeting.
